Definitive Luxury Redefined – The 2013 Lexus RX

Although Lexus has a tendency to hit out-of-the-park home runs with every product they bring to market, Japan’s top luxury marquee is never finished. To them, there’s always more work to be done. That said, anyone who is familiar with the 2012 Lexus RX knows that it’s a winner through and through. It comes from a strong pedigree of segment-defining vehicles, and the RX created the luxury crossover segment by itself back 1999. Since then, it’s been one of the strongest selling products under the ToMoCo umbrella, and certainly one of the most popular products for Lexus. It makes perfect sense that Lexus would try to kick it up a notch with the RX – not only give it a once-over, but really make it stand out against the pack, and give the consumers something in the RX that they’ve never seen before.

For 2013, there’s a host of changes to the RX. The front fascia has been massaged ever so slightly and features Lexus’ signature Spindle Grille treatment. Adding to the allure of the new RX are its new LED daytime running lights – a feature that has been taking the Lexus brand – and the premium car market – by storm. They pierce the darkness while invoking jealousy among other drivers on the road who are not behind the wheel of an RX. Rear taillight design is also improved, and Lexus has introduced a new color palette for the 2013 RX as well. New colors include Claret Mica, Silver Lining Metallic, Deep Sea Mica, and Fire Agate. Inside the RX, drivers will be treated to a more driver-oriented environment, courtesy of a redesigned steering wheel reminiscent of what’s found in the 2013 GS and the CT200h (all inspired by the LFA) and the availability of new driver aids that include Blind Spot Monitoring and Lane Keep Assist.

The real gem for 2013 is the inclusion if the F SPORT trim (which we’ll highlight in a later post once they start rolling into our showroom) that will make driving enthusiasts salivate.
